Why am I vegan?

"Why are you vegan?"  I get asked this question all the time, and I think the answer deserves it's own page!  Going plant-based was HANDS-DOWN the best thing I've ever done for myself.  To add to that, "food" animals don't suffer on my behalf anymore and my footprint on this earth has gotten smaller.  I've broken down my veg explanation into three parts!

1.  I love myself

2.  I can't eat my dog

3.  I like living on Earth

As always, feel free to email me at krimseys@krimseys.com with any questions.  Links in the text will take you to my research sources.

1. Because I love myself

Our bodies are designed to thrive on a vegan diet.  When we introduce animal products, we sabotage our natural biological processes.  "But if we aren't supposed to eat meat, why can we digest it?"  We can also digest liquor, paper, and food dyes--it doesn't mean we should eat/drink those things.  The human body is a miraculous piece of work that can withstand a lot of abuse, but the consumption of animal products has been linked to a host of illnesses and health conditions such as abnormal pH, intestinal cancers, heart disease, asthma, breast cancer, acne, rheumatoid arthritis, prostate cancer

Whoa.  Cancer?  Yes, cancer.  Animal products cause and accelerate certain types of cancer.  Because our bodies are not set up to handle animal products, eating them sends us into a state of acidosis--which is exactly the environment in which cancer cells thrive.  So by that logic, can't we cure these same cancers by making the body more alkaline? Yes, actually--and that's exactly what natural treatment cancer centers have been doing for decades.  They fly low under the radar as they do not have the funds to compete with the pharmaceutical industry.   How do you make billions when you're just feeding people plants?  You can't.  But you can make billions when you charge people copious amounts of money to expose them to harmful radiation therapy and pump their bodies full of chemicals to "save them" from a cancer that can be killed simply by changing their diets.

No one wants to talk about it, but the number one killer of Americans is something that is directly linked to the consumption of animal products: heart disease (also known as "atherosclerosis," a buildup of fatty plaques in your arteries which leads to heart attack and/or stroke).  One in four people in this country will die of heart disease!  That. is. INSANE!  So what's the solution?  Stop putting things into your body that cause heart disease.

A vegan diet is free of all animal products and yields the lowest risk of heart disease.

Why isn't anyone talking about this?  Probably for a few reasons...one major one being that meat, dairy, egg, and medicine industries all have a lot to gain from us not talking about this.

2. I WOn't Eat My Dog

Would you?  Most people are appalled at the thought of eating their pets.  Why is this?  I think it's because we can see and interact with our pets.  Other animals (like pigs) don't get that luxury, so we pretend that they don't suffer or that they are too stupid to know what's happening to them.

3. I Like Living on Earth

The Standard American Diet (a.k.a. "SAD") is killing our planet.
